Comic Con Craze Comes to Novi This Weekend

Comic lovers can feel the excitement when they visit Motor City Comic Con's website and see the ticker counting down to the start of the convention.

Motor City Comic Con, Michigan’s original comic convention, celebrates its 24th anniversary Friday to Sunday at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

Attendees will be absorbed into comic culture when seeing and meeting comic icons, shopping for comic merchandise -- like comics, clothing and posters -- and checking out what's new in the artist alley.

Motor City Comic Con, which starts 12:30 p.m. Friday, gathers comic book and multi-media dealers from across the country. Hundreds of comic book creators, writers and artists and an extensive guest list of actors from the TV and sci-fi movie industry will be on site.

Top names in the guest list include:

• Stan Lee - comic legend who co-created characters like Spider-Man, the Hulk, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and Thor
• Cas Anvar - known for his role as Assassin Altair from Assassins Creed Revelations
• Nicholas Brendon - best known for his character Xander Harrisin the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer
• Aaron Ashmore - known for his role as Jimmy Olsen in Smallville
• Lou Ferrigno - best known for his role in the CBS television series The Incredible Hulk
• Cary Elwes - known for his role in the classic film The Princess Bride
• Stacy Haiduk - known for her role as Lana Lang on Superboy TV series of 1988 and her role in Prison Break

Convention-goers should expect to see comic characters come to life for the adult and children costume contests.
