Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Happy First Birthday, Novi Patch!

Novi Patch is celebrating one year since it launched on June 29, 2011.

Although I've lived in the area all my life (apart for my time at Michigan State - GO GREEN!), I never knew how much Novi had to offer. This "small town" is actually a buzzing metropolis that can claim it is one of the best cities to live in in America and is host to grand events such as the Great Lakes State Fair and major political rallies.

Apart from being home to a lot of fun and big news stories, Novi is also home to a lot of wonderful people.

Thanks to everyone who has been a fan of Patch and supported me throughout the past year. A special thanks to all of our writers, bloggers and readers who share their words and photos on the site. Thanks to our fans on Facebook and Twitter, and thanks to you for being a part of this first year!

It's been a busy year. Here's a look back:

Patch-say-what?

  • Question I most often get when I say I'm from Novi Patch: "How do you spell that?"
  • Greatest greeting I've ever received while out and about: "You're just everywhere, aren't you!"
  • Comment I get the most from out-of-towners when I say I'm from Novi: "You do know how Novi got its name, right?" (I've learned not to correct them; it breaks their hearts.)
  • Comment I most often get when I'm reporting at the high school: "Oh, I thought you were a student!"
  • Comment I most often get when meeting a person for an interview: "You look much differen than your picture on the website!" (I guess that's what happens when you grow out your bangs. I should probably update that pic...)

The most-read stories

    The future

    • Little story I'm most excited to make a big deal about: Programs at local churches

Thanks for being a part of Novi Patch! Now, on to year No. 2.

    Congratulations!
The Novi Patch is awesone--it keeps me (and my fellow co-workers from Novi) in touch with our community and our children's schools and their events.
Thank you Rebecca for covering the community with integrity and your heart!
