The ball diamonds in Ella Mae Power Park in Novi are host to a new set of games this August for Novi's first Cricket Cup organized by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department.

The championship game for the cricket tournament was originally scheduled for Sunday, but heavy rains Saturday caused the semifinal and quarterfinal games to be pushed back. The final match will now be on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m.

Despite the change in schedule, families and enthusiasts of the sport filled the park Sunday to take in the action and cheer for their favorite teams. Local teams, as well as some teams from farther cities like Lansing, competed in the sport that is one of the world's most popular.
