New Martial Arts Studio in Novi Aims to Build Character

Pro Martial Arts officially opens for business on Monday.

Robb and Sarah DeRoeck are hoping their new marital arts studio in Novi will do more than just give students a physical workout.

At , the couple plans to help build character in children.

“The emphasis we want to have is helping children develop respect and confidence in themselves and try to help them become good stewards in life,” Robb DeRoeck said.

The studio, which is located on 41430 Grand River Avenue near Meadowbrook Road, has its grand opening on Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.  The business will be raffling off an iPod Touch and a free year of classes.

PMA officially opens for business on Monday. The DeRoecks will operate the business, and three trainers will run the classes for ages 5 through adult.

“We are also willing and looking for opportunities to do anti-predator and anti-bullying prevention seminars or talks in order to help children be prepared and able to handle situations that are in today’s world,” Robb DeRoeck said. 

Sarah DeRoeck said she and her husband chose to open this franchise because it gives back to society and the community.

“It’s definitely all about building character to last a lifetime in children,” she said.

She said they are happy about the way the business turned out, and they have been excited to meet many new people.  

“Everyone’s very family-oriented, very nice, very welcoming, so I’m just thrilled we chose Novi,” she said.
