Tilted Kilt Pub Opens in Novi

The new restaurant combines Scottish, Irish and English tradition.

Tilted Kilt, a new pub and eatery that opened Dec. 1 in Novi's Fountain Walk, is the first of its franchise to open in Michigan.

The restaurant features 30 draft beers on tap including local beers like Short's Soft Parade, Fat Tire and Magic Hat #9.

"It's a great sports viewing atmosphere, great service. Our slogan is: Cold Beer Never Looked So Good," said General Manager Brian Meussner.

The female servers, who wear plaid kilts, are a big part of the Tilted Kilt experience and are featured in their own calendar.

Sports watching is another part of the experience as there are more than 50 televisions in the Tilted Kilt, so patrons can count on seeing their favorite games, Meussner said.

"Wings and burgers are always a big hit," he said about the most popular menu items. "Also our entrees like Irish stew, Shepherd's Pie, and fish and chips."

He said appetizers start around $7 and most of the burgers and entrees are $10 to $15.

"We do a good job of combining English, Irish and Scottish tradition with our own American twist. That’s why we’re tilted," Meussner said.

Tilted Kilt takes reservations for parties and is already getting booked for Superbowl Sunday, he said. Also, the pub does a spin on St. Patrick's Day on the 17th of every month, he said.

Meussner said there are plans to open more Tilted Kilts in the metro Detroit area, but nothing is ready for announcement.

Although Tilted Kilt is already open for business, the official ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebrations will be held on Feb. 8.

http://nrn.com/news/tilted-kilt-president-ron-lynch-details-undercover-boss-experience - The place really looks like a Hooters in disguise. I'm sure it will go over well though. It is different from the normal Applebee's and Friday's.

Just an FYI, heard the servers are dressed more like naughty school girls than Scottish kilts which are usually knee length. The skirts are short and the cleavage is plentiful! I'm not saying that's a problem as long as you know it's prob not the most kid friendly atmosphere. Some may think that parents don't normally take their kids to sports bars but it happens all the time...so moms be informed! Best for an adult night out only! Maybe they should advise patrons outside of the door or in advertisements to they know!
