Novi Start-Up Gives Back to Furry Friends

Digital Roots, a start-up company based in Novi, helps out a local dog daycare.

Digital Roots is a Novi tech start-up company that specializes in social media management for large brands. However, Facebook and Twitter aren't all that Digital Roots employees love.

"We are big dog lovers here. I think everyone has met everyone else's dogs," said Jacki Halas, director of marketing.

Digital Roots employees worked together to donate 100 towels to Canine College, a dog daycare in Farmington Hills. Many of the employees drop off their pets to Canine College before coming in to work, Halas said.

"We were excited to do that for them," she said.

Halas said the company is dedicated to the local area and often looks for ways to give back.

"It’s a good team building activity for us. We’re committed to the revitalization of the region as a whole," she said.

As a small start-up in Michigan, Digital Roots employees know it takes community support to be successful. The company opened in 2009 and now has some big, although anonymous, clients.

"We work with three large automotive companies based out of Michigan along with media entertainment, real estate and home building companies," Halas said.

The company has also been growing internationally.

Halas said everyone was happy to donate to Canine College and their pooch friends, and they're looking forward to their next opportunity to give back at Michigan's Tour de Cure
