Weekend Planner: Heritage Festival, Garden Walk and Memorial Tennis Open

Nathan Farooq Memorial Tennis Open

  • Where: Novi Middle School tennis courts
  • When:Friday through Sunday
  • Pricing: $20 donation
  • Why Go: Remember Novi High School student Nathan Farooq, who was hit by a car on the freeway and killed in January 2011. Money raised will go toward a scholarship set up for Novi High School students in Nathan's name. For more info and to register, visit nfmopen.com.

Outdoor Concert

  • Where: Kellogg Park, downtown Plymouth
  • When: Friday at 7 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Bring your chair and listen to some blues played by The BluesCasters outside.

Novi Heritage Festival

  • Where: MSU Tollgate Farm
  • When: Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Bring the family to celebrate Novi's agricultural history with demonstrations of many heritage crafts including beekeeping, maple syrup making, horseshoeing, basket making and sheep herding. There will also be music, puppet shows, food, hay rides and fishing in the Tollgate pond (all equipment provided).

Novi/Northville Garden Walk

  • Where: Begins at the Northville Art House, 215 W. Cady Street
  • When: Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Pricing: $10
  • Why Go: Enjoy a self-guided tour of eight beautiful gardens—four in Novi and four in Northville. There will also be vendors, refreshments, a 50-50 raffle, free used garden and recipe books, and access to The Northville Art House.

Novi Farmers' Market

  • Where:Fuerst Park
  • When: Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Stop by the Farmers' Market and enjoy live music while shopping for fresh produce and other items. Chef Jeff Evans of Steve & Rocky's will be giving a cooking demo from 10-11 a.m.
