Compuware Arena Drive-In in Plymouth Opens This Weekend

The Avengers, Battleship among blockbuster films screening this weekend at drive-in.

As spring moves quickly into summer, the Compuware Arena Drive-In Movie Theatres starts another season with a two-day opening this Friday and Saturday. The drive-in – located at 14900 Beck Road in Plymouth Township – will continue with another three-day weekend May 25-27 before going to a seven-day-a-week operation June 8 through September 2. The movies showing this Friday and Saturday include: SCREEN 1: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (PG), with The Three Stooges (PG). SCREEN 2: The Avengers (PG-13), with John Carter (PG-13). SCREEN 3: Battleship (PG-13), with This Means War (PG-13). Register Now for the Novi Dinner Tour

The No.VI Dinner Tour is June 26 from 5:30-10 p.m, presented by the Novi Chamber of Commerce.  Nine restaurants are on the tour, including: Cost is $30 per person. Groups of six people pay a discounted rate of $25, but must call the Chamber office at 248-349-3743 to purchase tickets. Groups may travel among restaurants by car or by taking the provided limos. You can register online at the Chamber of Commerce website. Starting locations are chosen on a first come, first serve basis. The Dinner Tour is sponsored by Varsity Lincoln.

Betsey Johnson Going-Out-of-Business Sale Begins

The store in Twelve Oaks Mall is liquidating.

Going-out-of-business sales began Friday at all 54 Betsey Johnson retail stores in the U.S., including the store in Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, according to a press release.  The fashion store filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April and liquidation sales will continue until all merchandise is gone. Betsey Johnson, known for her iconic designs and use of bold color, opened her first retail store 30 years ago in New York City and soon expanded internationally. Patch reader Tara Michener said on Novi Patch's Facebook page, "sad to hear that it's going out of business. Novi Energy Company Receives Michigan's Highest Environmental Award

ITC was recognized as a Clean Corporate Citizen Tuesday.

ITC Holdings Corporation, an energy transmission company headquartered in Novi, received the Clean Corporate Citizen Award (C3) from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in an outdoor ceremony Tuesday. The C3 Program is a voluntary environmental program that recognizes environmental stewardship at Michigan facilities, according to a press release from the DEQ. Candidates demonstrate facility-specific environmental management systems, have active pollution prevention initiatives at their facilities, and have a consistent record of compliance with state and federal environmental requirements. Novi Resident Quits Corporate Job To Launch Flavored Ice Business

One Novi mom has grown to learn more about her community through driving an ice treat truck.

One year ago Novi resident Christine Kendall made a bold decision: she quit her accounting job and became a Kona Ice truck driver. Kendall was tired of struggling to balance her work life with her three children, so she decided to give her notice for her office job. Now she spends her days driving the streets of Novi and attending local events, selling flavored shaved ice on her Kona Ice truck and building new relationships in the community.
