The Recovery Project Moves Bi-Weekly Gait Clinic to Mondays

Livonia-based The Recovery Project, a leading provider of physical therapy to people with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries and other neurological disorders, announced today that it is moving its popular bi-weekly gait clinic to from Wednesdays to Mondays. The Recovery Project co-CEO and lead physical therapist Polly Swingle made the announcement.

“The gait clinic, launched one month ago, is a unique opportunity for people facing mobility challenges to meet one-on-one with a team of specialists to receive customized recommendations,” said Swingle. “To ensure we’re meeting demand and making it accessible for everyone who is interested, we are shifting the clinic to a new weekday.”

The recurring clinic is geared toward local residents who have difficulty walking, potentially as a result of a spinal cord injury, MS, Parkinson’s disease, back surgery or other issues. During each clinic, patients will talk with a group of clinical experts about their current mobility, and their mobility goals for the future. The team will then analyze the patient’s walk, or potential to walk, and make recommendations to increase mobility and independence. Recommendations can range from physical therapy to customized braces.
