Best College Classroom Prank Ever? She’s Naming the Baby April – Wait for It – Fool

Rules are rules, but enforcing this one had a particular bite for a Michigan college professor.

First, the rule: If a cell phone rings during Aquinas College professor Steve Barrows’ class, it must be answered on speaker phone so the entire class can hear the juicy details, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The rule is in presumably in place to embarrass students into silencing their devices while they’re in class. So when a student’s phone rang in his Grand Rapids classroom, here’s what happened:

“Uh, hello,” the student says.

“Hello, is this Ms. Nefcy?”

“Yes?”

“Hi, this is Kevin from the Pregnancy Resource Center,” the caller says. “Per your request, I am calling to inform you that the tests results have come back positive. Congratulations.”

“Okay! You might want to … shut that down,” Barrows interjects.

“There is no need to worry,” the caller continues. “I know you told us the father is no longer in the picture, but we will be in contact with you throughout this whole process, so don’t worry about anything. We provide counseling and other maternity services at no charge.”

“Thank you ... I’ll call back later,” the student says.

“Hey, I want to publicly apologize,” Barrow says.

“Um, that’s okay,” the student says. “I’ve been expecting this and …

“I’m very sorry,” Barrow insists.

“I’ve been expecting this,” she repeats, “and I already know what I’m going to name the baby …

“The first name will be April,” she says (wait for it), “and the middle name will be Fools.”

Barrow disappeared behind a piece of paper.

“That was awesome,” he finally manages.

The YouTube video had more than 3.7 million views by mid-day Monday.
