Novi Offers Super Saturdays for Seniors

Several activities are planned through May.

Super Saturdays, presented by City of Novi Older Adult Services, fills the prescription of much needed fun with themed activities taking place on Saturdays between 4 and 6 p.m. Dinner, entertainment and friendship are on the menu at the Meadowbrook Activity Center (Novi Senior Center) at 25075 Meadowbrook Road.

Participants must be 55 or older and the cost is $7.50 per resident or $9 per non-resident, per event. Tickets may be purchased at the Older Adult Services office located inside the Novi Civic Center at 45175 W. 10 Mile Road.

Saturday activities include the following:

Saturday, Jan. 26, Nifty Fifties - The 1950s were all about cool leather jackets, slick hair, snug jeans and shiny cars. The legend of the '50s still lives on at the Meadowbrook Activity Center. Tune into the music of the era and recall the adventurous times while enjoying those classic box meals. Ticket deadline is Jan. 23.

Saturday, Feb. 23, Oscar Celebration - Join the excitement of the 85th Academy Awards. Cast your vote for the greatest movies and performances while celebrating in Novi style. Ticket deadline is Feb. 20.

Saturday, March 23, Disney Celebration - “M.I.C.K.E.Y. M.O.U.S.E.” and “It’s a Small World After All” are two of many songs that bring smiles and special memories of one’s childhood. Come reminisce and share fun stories. Ticket deadline is March 20.

Saturday, May 5 , Kentucky Derby - Hear the roar of the crowd and the high energy announcers at Churchill Downs during the most exciting two minutes in sports! Have fun watching the race and “horsing around” doing Derby Day activities. Ticket deadline is May 1.

Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. Registration deadline is the Wednesday prior to the Saturday event or until sold out. Transportation to the events is available for $1 each way. Please call to reserve a ride by calling 248-735-5617.
