Orange Barrels Indicate Upcoming 8 Mile Construction

Watch for detours.

Road work signs are going up along Eight Mile Road.

It's part of a $4.7 million project to resurface the road between Napier and Taft roads, in the City of Northville and on the border of Novi and Northville Township.

"The project will start after the Fourth of July," said Jeff O'Brien, design engineer for the Road Commission for Oakland County.

The orange construction barrels and "Road Work Ahead" signs are lined up along Eight Mile Road near Center Street.

The section between Garfield and Taft roads will finish this year. The road will remain open to traffic during the entire project, but some areas may be reduced to one lane.
