Weekend Events: Light up the Night, Jingle Bell Run and Winter Market

Here are some things to do around Novi Nov. 30-Dec.2.

Light Up the Night

  • Where: Novi Civic Center campus
  • When: Friday 6:30-9 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Get there by 6:45 p.m. to see the tree lighting. The rest of the night you can enjoy holiday performances, photos with Santa, children’s activities, marshmallow roasting, hockey skills competition, live reindeer, miniature train rides and free food samples

 

Holiday Craft Extravaganza

  • Where: Suburban Collection Showplace
  • When: Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free. Parking is $5.
  • Why Go: Shop hundreds of diverse gift items, such as jewelry, pottery, paintings and textiles.

Novi Concert Band Concert

  • Where: Novi Civic Center
  • When: Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go:  The band will be performing Leroy Anderson's "Belle of the Ball", "Sleigh Ride" and "A Christmas Festival", Mannheim Steamroller's "A Mannheim Steamroller Christmas" and "Ukrainian Bell Carol".

Novi Choralaires Concert

  • Where: Church of the Holy Family
  • When: Sunday at 4 p.m.
  • Pricing:  Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger and seniors 60 and older.
  • Why Go: The choir will perform “Christmas Past and Present”, featuring many classic holiday favorites along with some new selections from around the world.

Jingle Bell Run

  • Where: Northville Downs
  • When: Saturday 9 a.m.
  • Pricing: $35 to register the day off. Proceeds benefit the Arthritis Foundation.
  • Why Go: This family-friendly event includes a 5K run/walk with competitive timing, a kid’s quarter mile “Snowman Shuffle,” and post-race party with awards for the largest team, biggest fundraiser and most creative costume.

Winter Market

  • Where: Downtown Northville
  • When: Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Pricing: Free
  • Why Go: Celebrate the season with horse and carriage rides, live reindeer, a carousel, ice carving demonstrations, food, an artisan and greens sale, and Santa.
