Aeolus String Quartet to Visit 3 Novi Schools

The award-winning Aeolus String Quartet will perform at the Novi Public Library on Sunday and will appear at three Novi schools in the next week.

The quartet will be at Novi Meadows on the morning of Friday, Feb. 1 and at Novi Middle School and Novi High School on Thursday, Feb.7. The group will provide interactive lecture demonstrations, coaching and master classes at the schools as part of a two-week long education program sponsored by the Chamber Music Society of Detroit.

On Sunday, Feb. 3, the quartet performs a free family concert at the Novi Public Library as part of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit’s Listen @ The Library Series.

In total, the quartet is expected to reach almost 2,000 students and families in a one-week period in Novi alone.

Since its founding in 2008, the Aeolus String Quartet has won prizes in nearly every major chamber music competition in the U.S.  Most recently it took home the 2012 John Lad prize in recognition of its “high level of musicianship...the passion, the dedication, and the great generosity of spirit they have demonstrated.”

The Aeolus String Quartet and the American String Quartet are visiting 30 schools across the Metro Detroit area as part of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit's annual education program. The schools range from early elementary through college, and the musicians will reach almost 8,000 students. The schedule also includes visits to schools in Bloomfield Hills, Dearborn, Detroit, Farmington Hills, Flat Rock, New Boston, Pontiac, Redford and Wyandotte.
