Fifth Avenue Plans to Reopen in Novi

The Novi City Council helped the restaurant move forward with its plans by granting it a liquor license.

Fifth Avenue Club & Restaurant is looking to reopen its doors on Novi Road.

The Novi City Council welcomed the business back by granting it one of the city's two remaining liquor licenses at its meeting Monday night.

The business will be located at its previous location of 25750 Novi Road, Suite 104.

Novi Assistant City Manager Victor Cardenas said the business went dark for a while during the construction on Novi Road.

To receive a license, the city asks applicants to demonstrate that the business would provide a good or service that is not presently available in the city or that is unique to the city, that the business would foster economic growth or development, and that the business represents an added financial investment by a long-term business or resident with ties to the city.

Mayor Pro Tem Dave Staudt said that Fifth Avenue would revive the vacant building and would add economic development to the city.

Mayor Bob Gatt agreed.

"I'm very thrilled this business will open again," Gatt said. "We just did a lot of work getting main street off the ground … and I believe that Fifth Avenue will add some interest to the area."

The city now has one liquor license left to grant.
