Menchie's Frozen Yogurt to Open in Novi

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt offers a different frozen yogurt experience.

Customers serve themselves by filling their cups or fresh waffle bowls at dispensers labeled with some of the 100 flavors like Angel Food Cake, Butter Brittle, Peach Mango Tart, Watermelon Sorbet and Butterscotch.

"There will be a selection of 12 flavors at once, and they are constantly rotating," said Danny Samson, store operator. "We always have a sorbet flavor as well for guests that aren’t able to eat dairy."

Menchie's will open May 5 in Novi at Westmarket Square, 48010 Grand River Ave. Samson said there are traditional ice cream shops in Novi but not too many like Menchie's. 

"We’ve already been welcomed with open arms and we look forward to many years together," he said.

Menchie's has been and plans to continue being an active member of the Novi community, Samson said. He said Menchie's sponsored the Parks and Recreation department, the Easter Egg Hunt, and has sponsored events and donated giveaways at Novi schools with Menchie, the mascot.

Menchie's has nonfat, lowfat, tart, sorbet, no sugar added and low carb flavor options. Once a cup is filled to its owner's liking, it's time to move on to the toppings bar to select from almonds, granola, chocolate sprinkles, Oreos, coconunt and more. Menchie's also has fresh fruit toppings like pineapple, mango, kiwi and Maraschino cherries.

Finally, add one of the four hot sauces - hot fudge, caramel, marshmallow or peanut butter. When it's time to pay, place the cup on one of the scales near the register. It's $0.46 plus tax per ounce and $1 for a waffle bowl.

Samson said another Menchie's location will open in Livonia this summer.
