Novi Choirs to Have Fundraiser at The Big Salad

Eat at the restaurant on Monday or Thursday to help the Novi High School choirs go to NYC.

The Big Salad in Novi will be holding a fundraiser this week to support two Novi High School choirs' efforts to raise money for a trip to perform at New York’s Carnegie Hall on May 25, according to a press release.

On Monday and Thursday, 10 percent of all Novi Big Salad sales from customers who present printed or smart phone flyers from the high school choirs’ Facebook page will be donated to their fundraising efforts.

On Thursday from 6-8 p.m., two of the school’s choirs that will travelling to New York—the Novi Singers and Bella Voce—will be performing at The Big Salad’s Novi restaurant, along with the A capella Choir.

“The majority of our employees are in or have come from the arts,” said The Big Salad’s founder John Bornoty, whose wife Beth is a public school teacher. “With funding being cut in many public schools we want to help out through fundraisers that help support arts programs like the Novi Choir initiative.”

A number of other fundraisers have previously been held at all four Big Salad locations in which 5-10 percent of all proceeds typically are donated to school programs. Some of the previous fundraisers have been held on behalf of Grosse Pointe Woods High’s Michigan-exclusive solar car program, Grosse Pointe North High’s Distributive Education Class Association (DECA) and Choir, and Troy High’s Marching Band.
