Panera Bread lovers will soon be able to get their soup and sandwiches on the go, now that the restaurant has been approved to add a drive-through to its Novi location on Novi Road near Grand River Avenue.
The Novi City Council approved the one-lane drive-through, which will be added to the south side of the building, at its meeting Monday night.
A representative from Panera said that construction will likely begin this summer and hopefully be completed by August.
Panera will also be constructing a 468-foot addition to the building to accommodate the drive-through facilities.
In the process, the builders plan to demolish the existing parking area on the south side of the plaza, then adding all but four parking spaces back in later.
Novi's zoning ordinance was recently amended to allow drive-throughs in that district if certain conditions are met.
