Setting up the new store

Walmart has already hired a manager for the new store in Novi: Aaron Quimby.

Quimby, 30, has been working for Walmart for 12 years. He began as an unloader at the Coldwater store in 2000, working his way up the ranks to become store manager in Muskegon in 2009. He has his bachelor’s in management and economics from Hope College.

Quimby is originally from the west side of the state, but said he is getting familiar with the Novi area after moving here two weeks ago. He has met with several business owners and city government officials.

"People seem awesome around here. It's been a pleasure to talk to them - they've been friendly and inviting and willing to help me out with whatever I need," Quimby said.

Quimby said the existing businesses in and Walmart will be able to and that he is excited to build a long-term relationship with the city.

"From what I'm hearing from talking to everyone around town, it's going to be a really good fit. I'm excited I came over here to open a new store, and from everyone I've been talking to, they're excited to have us come in," he said.
