Perfect Desserts Celebrates Its Place in Novi

Patrons of the bakery celebrate at the ribbon cutting ceremony, by the Novi Chamber of Commerce, on Tuesday afternoon.

After spending 30 years decorating cakes and pastries for friends, Debra Capaldi of New Hudson decided to open her own bakery. Perfect Desserts is a family owned business that offers cupcakes, special cake orders and other pastries.

Capaldi and the bakery's patrons celebrated its official ribbon cutting Tuesday at the shop in Novi, 43448 West Oaks Drive.

The Novi Chamber of Commerce, which organized the ribbon cutting, recognized the bakery's place in Novi with Capaldi, her husband, Michael Capaldi, store employees and community members. See video of the ribbon cutting above.

Although the bakery has been open in Novi since October, its grand opening celebration is May 18 during regular store hours.

"It will be 25 percent off of anything inside the store," Capaldi said.

She said visitors can taste from a selection of samples.

Perfect Desserts can personalize cakes for any occasion from birthday parties to weddings to bachelorette parties.

"They can come in here and order anything they want — dessert of any type," she said. "We customize cakes to the customer."

Unlike most bakeries, Perfect Desserts is open on Mondays. Hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
