Providence Park Hospital's Andrea Bowers Joins '40 Under 40' Award Recipients

Crain's Detroit Business honors Andrea Bowers for developing an alternative patient observation area to open more beds and cut down stay time at the Novi hospital.

Crain's Detroit Business announced the 2013 class of 40 under 40 honorees last week.

Among this year's recipients is Andrea Bowers, 36, director/site lead for nursing at Novi's Providence Park Hospital.

According to Crain's, Bowers developed an alternative patient observation area that cut down hospital stay time and opened more beds.

The new unit trimmed length-of-stay to 16 hours from 1.2 days, and opened more beds, she told Crain's.

Bowers also oversaw the addition of a pet therapy dog program, according to Crain's. Read more about her accomplishments.

Since 1991, Crain's Detroit Business has honored Metro Detroit's high achievers with its 40 under 40 awards. According to Crain's, the purpose of the award is to "honor the best and brightest in Southeast Michigan who have made their marks in business before age 40."
