Bright House Cable Rates Going Up March 1

Customers in Novi, Farmington and Farmington Hills will see a $2 hike in basic cable and premium channel rates.

Keep an eye on your cable bill – Bright House Networks rates are going up March 1.

The rate change affects Novi, along with Farmington Hills and Farmington. The cities together formed the Southwestern Oakland Cable Commission (SWOCC) in 1982 to negotiate franchise agreements with their cable provider.

Customers can expect to see a $2 increase in basic cable, along with increases in expanded cable and premium channel rates, SWOCC board member Barry Brickner said Monday. The Bright House Movie Pass will increase from $7 to $8; digital box and DVR service will remain the same.

"They are adding some things to our package, but they are raising rates to go with it," said Brickner, who is mayor of Farmington Hills.

He said residents who have questions or concerns should contact Bright House Networks.
