Photos: Corvette Enthusiasts Convene In Novi

The National Corvette Restorers Society is holding its annual convention at Suburban Collection Showplace this week.

The National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) is holding its 2011 Great Lakes National Convention at this week.

Restorers from all over the country—and one man who traveled with his car from England—have come to Novi with their prized Corvettes to compete and meet with each other. Cars are judged primarily by how close they remain to original factory condition, right down to the nuts and bolts.

Owners of Corvettes manufactured between 1953-1996 are eligible to participate.

The Michigan Chapter of NCRS has assisted with the annual event by  hosting special events for attendees and arranging tours of local attractions, including The Henry Ford museum and Greenfield Village, the GM Performance Build Center, the Ford Rouge Factory and the Piquette Plant.

The convention began Monday and runs through Friday. The event is open to the public from 9 a.m.-4 pm. for a cost of $10 at the door. Children ages 12 and under are free.
