What's Happening in Novi This Week: Jan. 16-22

Schools and offices are closed Monday for MLK Day.

Here's a guide to everything you need to know about Novi this week:

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

  • and do not have school Monday for MLK Day.
  • The Novi , Recycling Center, and are closed Monday, as well.
  • The public is invited to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. at Monday night in the Novi High School auditorium at 7 p.m.

Community events

  • Hear the State of the City Address Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the for $30 (lunch included) or wait until Saturday to hear it for free at the Novi Civic Center at 10 a.m.
  • The Novi Board of Education meets Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Educational Services Building.
  • The Winter Dog Classic is at the from Thursday to Sunday.
  • The Novi Public Library will host its first of four Thursday at 7 p.m.

Novi Community Schools weekly sports schedule

Tuesday

The boys freshmen basketball team plays Salem High School away at 4 p.m., followed by the JV team at 5:30 and the varsity team at 7.

The girls freshmen basketball team plays Plymouth High School in the Novi Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m., while the JV team plays in the main gym at the same time. The varsity girls play at 7 p.m.

The varsity girls and boys bowling teams take on Northville at at 3:30 p.m.

The co-ed middle school swim & dive team compete against Millennium Middle School at South Lyon High School at 4 p.m.

Wednesday

The boys 7th grade Green team plays Emerson Middle School at home at 4 p.m., while the 7th grade White team plays Franklin Middle School also at home at 4 p.m.

The boys and girls varsity ski teams compete against West Bloomfield at Alpine Valley at 4 p.m.

The boys 8th grade Green team plays Emerson Middle School at home at 5 p.m., while the 8th grade White team plays Franklin Middle School also at home at 5 p.m.

Girls JV and varsity cheerleading both compete against Livonia Stevenson, Northville and South Lyon at 6 p.m. at Northville High School.

The varsity hockey team plays Livonia Stevenson at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena at 6 p.m.

Varsity wrestling faces Livonia Stevenson, Northville and South Lyon at South Lyon High School at 6 p.m.

Thursday

Varsity bowling takes on Canton at Westland Bowl at 3:30 p.m.

The boys and girls varsity ski teams compete against Walled Lake Central at Alpine Valley at 4 p.m.

Girls freshmen basketball play South Lyon at 4:30 p.m. at home in the main gym, followed by the varsity team at 6 p.m.

Girls middle school cheer has a meet at Pinkney High School at 6 p.m.

The boys varsity swim & dive team heads to Salem High School at 6:30 p.m.

Friday

Girls freshmen basketball plays Livonia Stevenson away at 4 p.m., followed by the JV team at 5:30 and the varsity team at 7.

Boys freshmen basketball plays Livonia Stevenson in the Novi Field House at 5:30 p.m., while the JV team plays in the main gym also at 5:30 p.m., and the varsity team plays at 7.

Varsity hockey takes on East Kentwood away at 6 p.m.

Saturday

Varsity wrestling has a tournament at Westland John Glenn High School starting at 8 a.m. and another at Holt starting at 10 a.m.

Middle school cheer has a tournament at Rochester High School starting at 9 a.m. JV and varsity cheer also held to Rochester for an invitational.

Sunday

Varsity hockey plays Grandville at Kentwood Ice Arena at noon.

JV pom heads to Skyline High School for a tournament beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by the varsity team at 12:45 p.m.

Catholic Central High School weekly sports schedule

Monday

The freshmen wrestling team heads to UofD for the Christian High School League Tri at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday

The varsity ski team takes on Brighton at Mt. Brighton at 5 p.m.

The swim team takes on Brother Rice at Waterford Kettering at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday

The Varsity White wrestling team takes on Orchard Lake St. Mary's and NDP at home at 5 p.m.

Thursday

The varsity and JV bowling teams take on De La Salle at 3:30 p.m. in Westland.

The JV ski team takes on Farmington at Mt. Brighton at 4:45 p.m., followed by the varsity team at 6 p.m.

Friday

The JV White hockey team plays Culver at 3 p.m., followed by the JV Blue team at 5 p.m. and the varsity team at 8 p.m. in Indiana.

Freshmen basketball takes on Orchard Lake St. Mary's away at 4:30 p.m., followed by the JV team at 6 p.m. and the varsity team at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday

The Varsity C wrestling team heads to Southgate Anderson for a tournament.

Varsity Bowling has an Oakland County Tournament starting at 9 a.m.

Freshmen and JV wrestling head to Fowlerville for JV Duals starting at 9 a.m.

Varsity Blue wrestling has a quad competition at home starting at 10 a.m., while the Varsity White team competes against Cincinnati Moeller and B/Richmond at home starting at 10 a.m.

The swim team heads to East Grand Rapids for an invitational beginning at 11 a.m.

JV Blue hockey plays Culver away again at noon, followed by the JV White team at 3 p.m. and the varsity team at 2:30 p.m.
