Bob Gatt Wins Race for Novi's Mayor

Novi Mayor Bob Gatt's priorities include public safety and economic development.

Bob Gatt will continue as Novi's mayor for another two years.

After all of the precincts were counted Tuesday, Gatt had 5,811 votes, beating Joseph Peter Samona who had 683 votes and Jason George Wellington Dorsch who had 203 votes, according to unofficial results from Oakland County.

Gatt, who has lived in Novi for 25 years and had a 27-year career with the Novi Police Department, told Patch during his campaign that his priorities include public safety and encouraging economic development.

"I will help [city] Council develop a fiscally responsible plan to meet the long-term needs of the police, fire and public works departments, including proper resource allocation in personnel, equipment and building facilities," he said in his candidate profile

Gatt's campaign manager and Novi school board president Dennis O'Connor — who also ran for city council but lost — said he was proud of the results in the mayoral race.

"To me that is an affirmation of what Mayor Gatt did for Novi," he said after the election results were announced.

With 86 percent of the votes going to Gatt, Novi voters confirmed their support for him, O'Connor said. Read more about Gatt.
