I have been a small business owner in Novi for 13 years. I develop training, marketing and promotional campaigns and programs. My “skill set” will be a welcomed addition to the Novi City Council.  I continually help promote our Novi Community to people, small businesses and corporations outside the area.  We have a great story to tell!

We need to attract more businesses and families to our community.  Prior to opening my own business, I served 10 years as the News Editor for the West Bloomfield Eccentric in the Observer & Eccentric Newspaper group. My agency experience includes 15 years at Maritz, Inc. where I served as a Vice President-Training Director in the Detroit Region.

How long have you lived in Novi?
My family and I have lived in Novi for 22 years.  We moved to Novi in 1986, but I was transferred out of state in the mid-1990s.  We then returned to Novi in 1998 to reconnect with a community where civic pride and educational excellence are top priorities.  My two daughters graduated from Novi High School in 2002 and 2004.

Could you summarize why you are running for city council?

Last year, Novi voters re-elected me to the Novi School Board because I demonstrated what they expect from a public servant: a hard-working, fiscally conservative person, focused on providing the best education possible for our children. Now, I see an opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience in public service for the Novi Community by running for the City Council seat vacated by Terry Margolis, who decided to retire. I have an outstanding track-record as a good steward of taxpayer dollars. Novi voters deserve the type of independent, critical thinking that I bring to all Novi issues.

What do you think are the greatest issues facing the city?
How would you handle them?

Economic Development:

The City needs to collaborate with neighboring school districts on all new economic development opportunities.  High-tech, research, engineering and medical industries should want to come to Novi because of its great location, and because our schools support businesses by offering great academic,
skilled-trades and internship programs.

Shared Government Services:

City and school officials need to focus on protecting taxpayer dollars by working better – together – to enhance existing programs, to develop more recreation fields and to eliminate duplicated government services and expenses.  I’ve led the charge to STOP the waste.  The “culture” for sharing government services is beginning to change – but we’ve got a long way to go.
