Michigan Millionaire Hopes to Stimulate Local Economy Through “Michigan Market Expansion” Project

Michigan’s path toward economic recovery receives no shortage of local press. “But residents should not lose sight of those still struggling to regain economic prosperity” – that is what Kris Fairless, who became a millionaire in three years representing Rodan + Field Dermatologists (or the Doctors) full-time as an independent consultant, says. And her Michigan Market Expansion project in February aims to help that exact population.

The Michigan native’s project includes two events, at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25 at Embassy Suites in Troy and at 7 p.m. on March 7 at the DoubleTree in Novi. She hopes to connect with professionals interested in exploring the potential for improved financial health and security.

Joining her in hosting the events is Laura Jasurda, another Michigan native, who was able to retire from an executive position in the auto industry a year and a half after joining Rodan + Fields part-time in the same role, as an independent consultant. The recession directly affected Jasurda when she worked in automotive, so she also remains passionate about reaching out to those who are still recovering.

During each event, Fairless will share the story behind her success, which began with job loss and led to her current entrepreneurial role. “I’m living proof that entrepreneurship in today’s economic reality is the answer,” she said. Jasurda will also tell her story, and the two will provide a business overview, so attendees can learn if the opportunity might be right for them to leverage the Doctors’ success in working toward career and financial goals, as well.

Fairless travels the nation sharing her story, but particularly looks forward to doing so in her own community. “I’ve already helped make a difference for individuals in other economically depressed states like California and Florida,” she said. “I asked myself: Why not Michigan families, too?”

The Doctors found success selling their clinical line for six years in major department stores, before entering the direct selling industry in 2008. They promote a business model based on implementing social media and Web technology, rather than hosting home parties or similar activities. The Michigan Market Expansion project’s events will precede an exciting milestone for the company, to be announced in February; anticipation of this milestone led the Doctors to receive 10 million media impressions in January alone.
