Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair Presents $8K to Novi

The private entity that runs the fair has donated over $32,000 to charity.

Charitable giving was on the agenda for the Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair

The private entity that holds the fair, in collaboration with the Suburban Collection Showplace and the Detroit Shriners Organization, presented the City of Novi with an $8,000 check Oct. 14.

“We understand the importance of supporting programs that are making a positive impact in our community, and this donation is just one way we can express our gratitude to the City of Novi,” said Blair Bowman, manager of The Michigan State Fair, LLC, in a news release.

The money will benefit the Novi Police and Fire Benevolent Association, Friends of the Novi Library and the Novi Parks Foundation.

During the expanded 2013 Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair, the Detroit Metro Conventions & Visitors Bureau and the Detroit Shriners Organization each contributed $5,000 to help launch a new Urban Youth Agriculture Scholarship Program.  The total contribution helped to increase involvement and awareness of youth agriculture programs, farming and livestock management within the state.

Also, more than one-third of the fair’s tickets supported the Detroit Shriners’ efforts to help children that are treated at its Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Another $4,000 was dedicated to local service organizations, and — along with the $8,000 donation to the City of Novi — there has been over $32,000 donated directly to charitable community efforts and scholarship programs.
