Novi Elementary Students Raise Money for Typhoon, Tornado Victims

Students will donate money to people in the Philippines and Illinois.

Fourth grade students at Novi's Parkview Elementary School thought of a way to help those affected by the recent typhoon in the Philippines and the tornado in Illinois

Principal Jenifer A. Michos said in an email to parents that students in Diane Garbooshian’s fourth grade class approached her with this different fund-raising idea.

"This Friday, students are allowed to bring in money and wear a 'thinking hat,' which will be any special hat that will be a symbol for us to remember and think about how fortunate we are to be at Parkview in Novi.  We can make a choice to give to others during this time of need," the students said in a written statement.
