Light up the Night!

Join the holiday fun at the Novi Public Library and Civic Center as we "Light up the Night."

Now that Thanksgiving is over and you’ve survived (?) the onslaught of Black Friday it’s time to get into the holiday spirit and “Light up the Night.”  On November 30th from 6:30 – 9:00 pm, the Novi Public Library and Civic Center Campus will bring the seasonal fun with this annual event.  The amount of programming going on is so massive that this event will be held at three different locations.

Inside the Civic Center there will be a holiday tree lighting at 6:45 by the Mayor and a special guest.  There will also be live performances by Musikgarten & Me, the Novi Choralaires, and an interactive Nutcracker performance.  Visitors will also have a chance to meet Santa, enjoy a craft show, and free refreshments.

Outside the Civic Center the fun continues with marshmallow roasting, a hockey shoot-out, and live reindeer.  There will also be miniature train rides, a bounce house, and hay wagons which will shuttle people to and from the Novi Public Library.  Inside the library there will be a magic show with Tom Plunkard starting at 7:30 as well as a craft and face painting station sponsored by the Berenguer family.  The library will also be serving free hot chocolate, popcorn, and cookies.

In addition to all these activities, there will be a chance for those of you who think your holiday decorations rock the block to show your stuff.  New this year is a House Decorating Contest with the winner announced at Light up the Night. To enter, send photos of outdoor house decorations to Greg Morris, Recreation Supervisor at gmorris@cityofnovi.org by November 26.  There will also be a chance to give back and make the holidays a little brighter for someone in need with a donation of gifts or money to HAVEN a safe place for families of domestic abuse.
