According “Jewish Distinctiveness in America,” a detailed 2005 study for the AJC, Jews were more supportive than any other religious group of government health-care spending and more supportive than any ethnic or racial group except African-Americans."

"Another driver of the Jewish vote is fear of the Christian right. Although the percentage of American Jews who cite abortion or separation of church and state as their top voting issue is low—a combined 7 percent, according to the AJC poll—those Jews who do care about cultural issues lean massively to the left. According to the 2005 “Jewish distinctiveness,” study, Jews are the most pro-choice ethnic or religious group in America, by far. Almost 80 percent of American Jews think it’s fine for a woman to have an abortion for any reason, which is close to twice the percentage for Americans as a whole. Jews are also the religious and ethnic group most supportive of giving birth control to teenagers and most hostile to school prayer. And this cultural liberalism produces deep hostility to the Christian right. According to a 2012 study by the Public Religion Research Institute, American Jews feel almost twice as sympathetic to American Muslims as they do to the Christian right." more at http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/08/14/romney-lost-the-american-jewish-vote-by-picking-paul-ryan.html by Peter Beinart

The logic Robert has used wouldn't pass a 9th grade logic test. Your opposition to gay marriage seeks to deny others the right you enjoy, to marry the person you choose. Supporters of marriage equality are defending the rights of Americans to enjoy "equal protection of the law," as guaranteed by the Constitution. You are not being discriminated against because others can have the rights you enjoy, but you discriminate when your beliefs support discriminatory laws. One day this controversy will be seen as unfair as the laws against inter-racial marriage are seen now.

I appreciate all the different perspectives. Liberals (now we're supposed to call them progressives because liberal was too mean) want to spend money we do NOT have. I'd love to give social programs a 20% raise every year but oops, I forgot. . . NO ONE has any money because all the liberals. . . I mean progressives. . . keep spending WAY more than we actually have. I love the argument they use, "how crude, you're going to take money away from the poor, take away food stamps, take away housing credits, take away free cell phones". And the list keeps going on and on. And what's worse is that they've already taken money away from the Social Security fund and any other place that has money sitting around. There are way more than $50 trillion in unfunded liabilities that our (25-55 yr olds) are going to have to pay on. And $50 T is a low estimate. It's probably more like $100 to 200 T with all the health care issues that will be happening as our life expectancy gets longer. We need to live within our means and STOP saying the rich need to pay their fair share. How about EVERYONE pays 10% of their income? THAT'S FAIR!!!!! As for Romney and Ryan, why do liberals (oops, there I go again) want to spend other rich peoples money and then try to use every tax loophole when it comes to their own money??? Sad state of affairs when 51% of the people getting the free stuff get to tell us hard working people how they will spend our money. What happened to hard work in the USA?

Well Michael - I'm a liberal and proud of it. The debt you're whining about you conservatives made with the war you lied us into. BTW, the last comment before yours was in August. How typical for Republicans - lost in a time warp. When you get rich, come let us know.
