$14,500 in Jewelry Stolen From 90-Year-Old Woman

The following information was supplied by the Novi Police Department.

A 90-year-old Novi resident reported that $14,500 in jewelry and another $700 in cash were stolen from her residence on Marks Drive sometime between 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 12, according to a police report.

The woman said she noticed the money, which she keeps in a brown envelope, was missing from the nightstand in her den. She then looked around her house and noticed that her eight pieces of jewelry were missing, the report said.

The woman told police that she has not had any workers or visitors to the house recently, and police could not find any evidence of someone being inside, the report said. All of the windows, doors and the garage were locked.

The woman said she did go for a walk at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 and left her door unlocked, the report said. She also has a key outside of the front door in case she gets locked ou, the report said.

The case has been forwarded to the detective bureau.
