Catalytic Converters, Other Items Stolen From Cars in Novi

The following information was provided by the Novi Police Department.

Several items were stolen from cars from Jan. 24-31, according to Novi police reports.

A woman reported the catalytic converter was stolen off her Chevrolet Cavalier while it was parked at Twelve Oaks Mall on Jan. 24, according to a police report. The woman parked her car at 2 p.m. and returned to it at 6 p.m., the report said. When she started her car, she noticed the exhaust was very loud and later realized the catalytic converter had been cut off.

A woman reported her son's friend had his car broken into while it was parked in front of her house on Argyle Court from Jan. 26-27, according to a police report. The woman said the car had been left there at 8 p.m. and was locked. In the morning, he found that his backpack with his textbooks and folders had been stolen, the report said. Police found that the driver's side keyhole had been popped out, the report said.

A man reported that his wallet was stolen from his car on Chipmunk Trail on the night of Jan. 29-30, according to a police report. The man left his car unlocked and in the driveway from 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. the next day, the report said.

A woman reported that the catalytic converter was stolen off her Pontiac Montana while it was parked at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Jan. 31, according to a police report. The woman arrived at 10 a.m. for a conference and parked in the east lot. When she left at 5 p.m., she started her car and noticed the converter had been cut off, the report said.
