Novi Man Arrested in Connection with 2012 Murder

If convicted, the 29-year-old man faces mandatory life in prison.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office announced the conclusion Wednesday of a homicide case from last year.

Police arrested 29-year-old Emerus Shaw, of Novi, and 19-year-old Chloe Williams Tuesday for the March 2012 murder of 24-year-old Pontiac resident Marcus Medlock, according to a news release.

Medlock was shot multiple times at his Pontiac residence in the 800 block of Monticello, the release said. Detectives think Medlock and Shaw had an argument just days before which led to the shooting, according to the release.

“I am extremely proud of the deputies who worked this case, leaving no stone unturned,” said Sheriff Bouchard. “While it can never fill the hole for family and friends, we look forward to at least bringing them closure.”

Shaw was arrested at his residence in Novi Tuesday morning by members of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Team and U.S. Marshals. He has prior convictions for carrying a concealed weapon and driving while intoxicated, the release said. He was denied bond after getting arraigned Wednesday and remains in the Oakland County Jail, according to the release.

U.S. Marshals also arrested Williams Tuesday at her residence in Texas. She remains in a Texas jail awaiting extradition proceedings, which could take up to 10 days, according to the release. Williams has a prior retail fraud conviction and will be arraigned on the current charges when she is returned to Michigan.

Both suspects were charged on Monday on one count each of open murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, the release said, and both face mandatory life in prison if convicted.
