Novi Man Charged for Criminal Sexual Conduct with Teen

The 21-year-old Novi man faces a maximum sentence of 15 years.

Damien Vincent Britton, 21, of Novi, faces charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person between 13 and 15 years old, according to case records from Wayne County's Third Circuit Court

Northville Township police arrested him Aug. 20, according to a police report, amid an open investigation involving his conduct with a teen. The teen is a resident of Northville, according to Wayne County Prosecutor's Office spokeswoman Maria Miller.

Britton's jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 13 before Judge Dana M. Hathaway at Third Circuit Court in Detroit. He faces a maximum penalty of 15 years for third-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to Miller.

He initially appeared in August before Judge Ronald W. Lowe at 35th District Court in Plymouth, according to case records online. He stood mute and a plea of not guilty was entered for him. Britton paid a $300 cash bond and was told not to threaten, assault, harass, or bother the parties involved, according to the records. He again stood mute during his arraignment Sept. 13 before Judge David A. Groner at Third Circuit Court, the records indicate, and the court entered a plea of not guilty.

Britton has a final conference Nov. 8 at Third Circuit Court before the case is scheduled to go to a jury trial in January, according to the records.
