Novi Police Identify Suspects in Chase Farms Truck Fire

Three Juveniles admit placing fireworks in truck.

The announced Friday that they have identified the persons responsible for setting a fire in the 41600 block of Hempshire Street. The fire occurred in the early morning hours of July 8 in the Chase Farms subdivision near the intersection of Nine Mile and Meadowbrook Roads.

In addition to , the fire also damaged the garage area of the residence, and a 2009 Mercury Milan parked nearby. Three juveniles admitted to egging homes, placing smoke bombs in between the storm/entry door of a home, and placing a “flashing” firework device in the open bed of the pickup. After several minutes, the juveniles noted a fire in the truck and attempted to extinguish it before fleeing to a nearby home where they were staying for the night.

The case has been forwarded to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office via the Family Division/Probate Court for a review of all applicable charges.

“I am pleased that we were able to identify the persons responsible for the fire and malicious mischief that occurred in the Chase Farms subdivision on July 8,” said Novi Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police David E. Molloy. “We are continuing the investigation into whether or not these individuals are related to other acts of vandalism in the subdivision.”
