Novi Police Maps Crime Reports Online

Do you ever wonder where crime happens in Novi?

A new tool provided by the allows residents to view the locations of reported crimes in town.

To view crimes, residents can visit CrimeMapping.com to see reported, verified criminal activity near an address; select crime types and date ranges; and generate reports of crime trends in the area.

“The Novi Police Department has been successfully using data of this nature to determine crime patterns, deploy resources, and arrest criminal offenders,” said David Molloy, director of public safety/chief of police, in a press release.

“Recognizing the power of having a well-informed citizenry, we have been exploring options for effectively sharing this critical information with our community for several months," Molloy said. "We encourage community and business members to be aware of what is happening in their neighborhood. This service places information at their fingertips, allowing them to enhance the vital role they play in our community policing strategy.”

Data is transferred to crimemapping.com daily from reviewed Novi Police crime reports. Novi Police crime data will remain available on the site for six months.

You can see crimes by going directly to CrimeMapping.com, or by visiting cityofnovi.org and clicking on the Police page under City Services. The Crime Mapping icon is on the Police Department’s homepage. An iPhone application is also available for download.
