Novi Police Promote Two to Sergeant

Officer Adam Elsen and Detective Kevin Gilmore will be promoted Monday morning.

On Monday at 11 a.m., Novi Police Officer Adam Elsen and Detective Kevin Gilmore will be promoted to the rank of sergeant. The ceremony will be held at the , located at 45125 W. 10 Mile Road. The ceremony is open to the public.

Elsen began his career with the Novi Police Department in 2005 after serving as a police officer with the Muskego, Wisconsin Police Department and as a team leader-paratrooper in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 1998. Elsen has held numerous assignments in the Novi Police Department, including firearms instructor, serving as member of the Special Response Team and as an officer in the Uniform Division. He is a highly regarded member of the department with three Unit Citations, one Merit Citation, a Community Policing Award and two Perfect Attendance Awards.

Gilmore joined the Novi Police Department in 2000 after a five-year career with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where he provided jail security and held a plainclothes assignment in the Morality Unit. He is a 1994 graduate of Ferris State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Detective Gilmore has held several assignments in the Novi Police Department, including field training officer, mountain bike patrol and as a detective in the Investigative Section. He has earned five Merit Citations, three Unit Citations and two Perfect Attendance Awards.
