Novi Police Veteran Jerrod Hart To Be Promoted to Assistant Police Chief

A ceremony will be held on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the police station.

This Friday Jerrod Hart will be promoted to Novi Assistant Police Chief. A 21-year veteran of the Novi Police Department, Hart currently serves as a Lieutenant with the .

“I am honored to have the opportunity to appoint Lieutenant Hart to the position of Assistant Police Chief,” said Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police David Molloy. “We are very fortunate to have someone of his leadership and management capabilities within our organization. He demonstrates a strong commitment to teamwork and our community, possesses a wealth of experience gained from working a variety of diverse assignments, and is committed to the mission, vision, and values of the Novi Police Department.”

Hart began his career with the Novi Police Department in 1991 after graduating from Ferris State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He will graduate this year with a master’s degree in technology from Eastern Michigan University with a concentration in homeland security and emergency management. In 2010, he graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at EMU.

Throughout his tenure, Hart has held numerous assignments, including serving as a sergeant, detective, field training officer, range instructor, and as the first school resource officer, helping to create a long-standing partnership between the Novi Police Department and . He has also served on the West Oakland Major Crime Task Force and has received numerous Department Meritorious Service awards, as well as the MADD Lifesaver Award in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

The assistant police chief position became available with to become the Milford Chief of Police. The Department chose to restructure the public safety administrative team to include two assistant police chiefs as opposed to one deputy and one assistant to maintain internal clarity. The assistant police chief positions report to the director of public safety/chief of police.

A promotion ceremony is scheduled for Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the Novi Police Department Training Center, located at 45125 W. Ten Mile Road between Novi and Taft Roads. The community is invited to attend.
