Police: Fireworks Could Have Caused Car Fire

Novi police are investigating the suspicious truck fire in Chase Farm.

The is seeking investigative leads into a suspicious fire that occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, July 8, according to a post on the city's Facebook Page. The fire occurred in the 41000 block of Hempshire Street, located in the Chase Farm Subdivision.

A 2010 Ford F-150 was parked in the driveway of the residence when it was observed by family members to be on fire, prompting a 911 call.

The Novi Fire and Police Departments are investigating the fire, with early indication that fireworks may be the cause. Novi Police Department Officers responded to several complaints of subjects lighting off smoke grenades on residential porches and fleeing after ringing the doorbell. Evidence of smoke grenades was located near the residence where the truck was parked.
