Seven Car Windshields Damaged by BB Gun at Fountain Walk; Car Stolen from Store Lot

The following information was supplied by the Novi Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The windshields of at least seven cars were damaged while parked in the south lot of on May 5 between 7:30 and 9 p.m., according to a police report.  The report said that the windshields appeared to have been damaged by someone shooting a BB gun at them. Novi police were dispatched to the area after a security agent found the security vehicle’s windshield had been cracked, the report said. The police officer found several other vehicles facing the grassy median damaged, as well, the report said. There are no suspects or surveillance footage, and the case has been forwarded to the Detective Bureau for review.

Car reported stolen

A man reported his car was stolen from the parking lot on Haggerty Road between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. on May 1, according to a police report. The man said he was inside Best Buy getting his laptop fixed for a couple of hours, and he returned to find the 2001 Chrysler Sebring missing from the lot, the report said. The man said he still had the keys to the car and was sure that he locked it, the report said.  

The man said he was driving his daughter’s car because there had been a few minor mechanical problems, and he was driving it to test it out, the report said. The man told police that the car is paid off, and he is not in any financial distress. There is no surveillance of the lot, witnesses or evidence, the report said.

Catalytic coverter stolen

A woman reported the catalytic converter was stolen from her car while it was parked in the parking lot between 11:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on May 4, according to a police report. The woman said the car was fine when she parked it, but when she returned and started it, it made a loud noise and shook, the report said. The woman had her car towed to a repair shop, where the mechanic told her the converter was missing, the report said. The converter is valued at $570 and there are no suspects or evidence, the report said.
