6 Cars Broken Into at Twelve Oaks Mall, 3 at Fountain Walk

The following information was supplied by the Novi Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Items were reported stolen from six different cars that were broken into at on Friday and Saturday, according to police reports. Three larcenies from cars were also reported at nearby during that time.

The reports of larcenies at Twelve Oaks Mall are as follows:

  • On Friday, a woman reported that five pairs of shoes worth $990 were stolen from her car, which was parked near Lord & Taylor, sometime between noon and 5:30 p.m. The passenger side rear window of the car was smashed, the report said. The police were able to recover one print from the scene, the report said.
  • A man reported that his prescription medicine, CDs, cell phone and recently bought school supplies were stolen from his car between 2 and 3 p.m. on Friday. There was no damage to the car, the report said. 
  • A woman reported that a bag containing arts and crafts was taken from her car parked in the Nordstrom's lot between 3 and 6 p.m. on Friday. She said the windows of the car were left slightly down. A passenger of the car reported that his iPod was also stolen, the report said.
  • A woman reported that her suitcase and messenger bag were taken from her car parked in the JC Penny lot sometime between 4 and 5:45 p.m. The bags contained her laptop, iPod, Nintendo DS, jewelry and her wallet. One of the car's windows was broken, the report said. 
  • A woman reported that a cooler was taken from her car, which was parked near JC Penny, sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The front passenger window had been punched out, the report said. 
  • On Saturday at 7:15 p.m., a woman reported seeing a man breaking into her car, according to a police report. The woman was leaving the mall after work when she saw a man leaning into the passenger side front window of the car, the report said. She asked the man what he was doing, and he ran away, the report said. Three men in a nearby car told the woman they would follow him, the report said. The woman told police she discovered her wallet and CDs were stolen. She gave descriptions of the four men to police, and the case is under investigation.

The reports of larcenies at Fountain Walk:

  • A man reported that his wallet and portable DVD player were stolen from his car parked in a lot at Fountain Walk sometime between 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Saturday. The items were in the glovebox and the car was left unlocked, the report said.
  • A man reported that his language translator, worth $200, was stolen from his car while it was parked in Fountain Walk sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on Saturday. The front passenger side window of the car was broken, the report said. 
  • A man reported that the radio was stolen from the dashboard of his car whiel it was parked in Fountain Walk sometime between 7 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on Saturday. His tool bag was also stolen, the report said. The suspect appeared to gain entry from the soft cover on the rear of the car, the report said. There were no witnesses.
