Novi Police Charge Elementary Principal with Being 'Super Drunk'

Kim Warren, principal of Deerfield Elementary in Novi, was arrested on April 8 under the suspicion of being intoxicated on school grounds.

Kim Warren, the Brighton resident and Novi elementary school principal who was arrested under the suspicion of being intoxicated on school grounds, has been charged with “super-drunk” charges, according to the Oakland Press.

The 44-year-old Deerfield Elementary principal was suspended from her position after being arrested by Novi Police on April 8 and according to WXYZ, Warren’s results from two breathalyzer tests registered at .21 and then .20, more than twice the legal limit.

Novi Police also said they found open intoxicants in her vehicle during her arrest on April 8, according to the Oakland Press.

Novi Superintendent Dr. Steve Matthews said Warren was at school the morning of April 8 and then went out to lunch. Police arrested her when she returned.

"There was no indication that morning that there was any problem or concern," Matthews said previously.

He said at no time did Warren enter the building or come in contact with the children or staff at Deerfield while intoxicated.

WXYZ also has video of the elementary school principal in handcuffs while riding in the back of the Novi Police patrol car.
