Thieves Take iPhone, Navigation System, Wheels from Vehicles in Novi

The following information was provided by Novi Police Department.

Novi Police responded to five reports of thefts from vehicles over the past 10 days:

  • Police were called shortly after 7 a.m. on March 5 about the theft of a $1,200 vehicle navigation system from a company-owned vehicle parked on 11 Mile Road. According to the report, the rear passenger window was broken and the center dashboard was pried open. 
  • Two vehicles at the Sheraton Hotel on Haggerty had in-dash electronics stolen from them sometime between March 4 and March 5. According to the report, a factory-installed stereo/compact disc player as stolen from a vehicle owned by a Farmington Hills business. The rear passenger door was broken to gain entry. The in-dash navigation system was stolen from the second vehicle, a rented mini-van. The driver was unsure whether he had locked the vehicle. 
  • The owner of a vehicle parked at the Novi Sports Arena on March 6 reported the theft of an iPhone and case, gift cards, cash and earphones soemtime between 6:30 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. that evening. According to the report, there was no sign of forced entry, and the owner noted the vehicle's rear passenger door doesn't always lock. 
  • Four tires were taken from two vehicles parked in a business lot on Magellan Drive sometime between 7 p.m. on March 1 and 7 a.m. on March 4. According to the report, the vans were left perched on cinderblocks, with each missing the rear two tires. Both were parked next to large box trucks in a back parking lot, and hidden from view.
