Unknown Burglar Breaks into Novi Home

The following information was supplied by Novi police.

An unknown suspect broke into a Novi woman's home on Willowbrook Drive across the street from Village Oaks Elementary School sometime between 9:30 and 11:20 p.m. May 2, according to a Novi police report.

The woman said that when she arrived home she found that her house had been ransacked and her door had been kicked in, the report said. Her front door, back door of the garage leading to the backyard and the inside door leading into the house were open, according to the report.

She entered her home and saw a piano bench in her living room had been knocked over and her bedroom light was on at the end of the hallway, the report said. The mattress was tossed over and her jewelry box was open in her bedroom, according to the report. She then grabbed her dogs and left the house, the report said.

Stolen property includes a Nintendo Wii valued at $200, four Wii games valued at $200, a blue Dell laptop valued at $800 and miscellaneous gold jewelry, according to the report.

The woman's son said that he was not at home that day, and she has no suspects in mind, the report said. She said she keeps all of her doors locked except the door from the inside of the garage to the house, according to the report.

Police said there was no evidence to collect and a detective division will follow up with the case.
