Woman Arrested on Charges of Stealing from Sears

Novi police arrested a woman 6:41 p.m. May 2 at Sears, 27600 Novi Road, on charges of retail fraud, according to a police report.

A Sears loss prevention agent saw a woman in the sunglasses department trying on various pairs of sunglasses, the report said. She left the department with a pair and went to the bathing suit department where she was observed showing her mother the sunglasses, according to the report. She moved to the shoe department and removed the tags from the glasses and concealed them in her purse, the report said.

She returned to her mother and they bought some shoes before exiting the store and made no attempt to pay for the glasses, according to the report.

Novi police arrested the woman and she has a hearing May 13 in court.
