Bentivolio Accepting Nominations to Military Service Academies

Congressman accepting applications through Jan. 31.

U.S. Rep. Kerry Bentivolio, R-Milford, announced he is accepting applications for nomination to the Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Naval Academy, according to a news release from Bentivolio's office. The deadline to apply for the entering class of 2013 is Jan. 31.

Bentivolio’s office urges anyone in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District who applied for the Military Service Academy prior to his swearing-in on Jan. 3 to re-apply and contact his office immediately.

According to the news release, there were no applications forwarded to his office from the previous representatives of the 11th district and Bentivolio would like to make sure everyone who applied previously receives proper consideration.

“As a veteran, it is a distinct honor to be able to nominate our fine young men and women to the military service academies,” Bentivolio said in the news release. “I will ensure that all my constituents who desire to serve our country receive the consideration that they deserve.”

Score one for Bentivolio, assuming he follows through. Thaddeus McCotter's inattentiveness to such things during his time in Congress was a big reason Kerry ran in the first place -- that, and no longer having a teaching job.
