Novi Mayoral Seat Up for Re-Election This Fall

Novi may have a new mayor and three new council members after November's elections.

Novi's city council may get a shake-up after this year's elections.

The mayoral seat and three council seats are up for re-election on Nov. 5. Mayor Bob Gatt, who was elected in 2011, is vying to keep his spot from new candidates Jason George Wellington Dorsch and Joseph Peter Samona.

The three council seats open for re-election belong to Justin Fischer, Terry Margolis and Andrew I. Mutch, who have all served since 2009. Margolis is leaving city council, while Fischer and Mutch are running to keep their positions.

Voters will be able to vote for three city council members in November out of six candidates. The candidates are: Fischer, Mutch, Alexander M. Fera, Gwen Markham, Jonathan Montville and Novi school board president Dennis O'Connor

The mayor position is a two-year commitment, while council members serve for four years.
