By the Numbers: Michigan House of Representatives 38th District Primary

Republican Hugh Crawford, the incumbent, is running against Democratic candidate in the November election to represent the 38th District in the Michigan House of Representatives. Both men ran uncontested in the primary election Tuesday.

Voters were only allowed to vote for one party.

Here's a look at how many votes each candidate received in the primary:

Unofficial results from the Oakland County Clerk show that Crawford got 7,026 votes to Tindall's 3,616 with all precincts reporting.

Of the 13,113 voters who had the 38th District on their ballot, 10,716 voted for a candidate, or 82 percent of voters. So 18 percent of voters did not pick a candidate.

Of the 4,282 Democrats who cast a ticket and had the 38th District on their ballot, 84 percent of them voted for Tindall. Nine people voted for a write-in candidate and 657 did not pick a candidate.

Of the 8,831 Republicans who cast a ticket and had the 38th District on their ballot, 80 percent of them voted for Crawford. Sixty-five people voted for a write-in candidate and 1,740 did not pick a candidate.

The winner of the seat to represent Novi, part of Northville, South Lyon, Lyon and Walled Lake for a two-year term will be decided on Nov. 6.
