By the Numbers: Oakland County Commissioner 9th District Primary

Here's a look at how many votes Kathy Crawford and Gwen Markham received in the primary election.

Republican candidate , the incumbent, is running against Democratic candidate in the November election for Oakland County Commissioner for the 9th District. Both women ran uncontested in the primary election Tuesday.

Voters were only allowed to vote for one party.

According to unofficial results from the Oakland County Clerk, Crawford got 4,343 votes to Markham's 2,441 with all precincts reporting.

Of the 8,669 voters who had the 9th District on their ballot, 6,784 voted for a candidate, or 78 percent of voters. So 22 percent of voters did not pick a candidate.

Of the 3,093 Democrats who cast a ticket and had the 9th District on their ballot, 79 percent of them voted for Markham. Seven people voted for a write-in candidate and 645 did not pick a candidate.

Of the 5,576 Republicans who cast a ticket and had the 9th District on their ballot, 78 percent of them voted for Crawford. Sixteen people voted for a write-in candidate and 1,217 did not pick a candidate.

The winner of the seat to represent Novi and part of Northville for a two-year term will be decided on Nov. 6.
